    Your child's first hero mission is in an underground roller-coaster thrill-ride.

    We'll assess your child on speed and accuracy as they zip along, learning all 44 sounds in the English language. With our magical magnifying glass, they'll uncover letters to match with sounds. And, when they start getting the hang of it, we'll challenge them with identifying initial and final consonants in words. It's a great first activity to start them on their individualized learning path.

    Ooka Elves love cake, and on Ooka Island the cakes are made at the Cake Factory.

    In this activity, your child gets to decorate cakes as they move along a conveyer belt and get ready to be boxed. While choosing the letters for the design of each cake, your child learns the sounds, how to break words into their individual sounds, and how to blend the sounds back together.

    Taming the teeming fountain requires that your child listen for a target sound and then pop the bubble containing the letter or letters that make that sound. This activity focuses on learning the correspondence between letters and sounds, a foundational skill for reading.

    Ooka's 85 eBooks are written in natural, familiar language designed to help children learn how to read.

    Our library is carefully levelled from preschool to early 2nd grade and progresses in vocabulary, book length, layouts, themes, and content. As each book is read, the words are highlighted. This shows how printed words are simply spoken words written down, and helps to develop sight vocabulary. Narrative support provides encouragement for your child to think about what they are reading.

    As your child learns on Ooka Island, they earn “Ooka Mist.”

    "Mist" is the island’s currency that can be spent at the Mist Mart on costumes for their avatar, on Zopet, on equipment and rides for the pencil playground, and on music for the Ooka jukebox. Not only does your child have fun learning to read on Ooka Island, but the Mist Mart provides a great opportunity for them to learn some basic fundamentals of math as well!

    In the Clumsy Wacky activity, the moving company on Ooka Island is making a delivery near the waterfall.

    Mischievous Fliggs have opened the back door of the truck and items have fallen into the water. Your child must rescue specific items from the water before they float over the waterfall. Designed to help master phonemic awareness through rhyming words, and blending sounds into syllables and words, this activity helps your child learn to decode and get meaning from print.
