Video Tutorial #3
Individual Student Reporting
Welcome to our third Video Tutorial in the Ooka Lighthouse!
My name is Jim Barber and I am the CEO and creative director at Ooka Island Reading Programs. Today I would like to share a quick video with you on using the Lighthouse, Ooka Island’s real-time online data reporting system.
This video tutorial will focus on the Individual Student Reporting in the Ooka Lighthouse. Watch the video tutorial below, or scroll down to read the script if you prefer!
From the main page, when you click on the ‘Individual Student Reporting’ button you are taken to a page where each of your students in your account has a button that provides access to their individual reports. Choose the specific student you would like to check on.

If I choose the student Joelle, I now have a choice to view Joelle’s Report Card, Book Progress Report, Reading Comprehension Report, and the Ooka Compass Reading Assessment Report if this function has been enabled for Joelle.
Let’s take a look at Joelle’s Report Card. Next to the picture of her avatar you see her game currency called Ooka Mist, books read, and time played in the game.

As you scroll down the Report Card, you will view each level the young learner is at in each activity, session score, and overall percentage of correct answers.
At the bottom of the Report Card there are definitions of what is taught in each activity.
Scrolling back up, notice that all reports can be printed for hard copies that you can use at parent-teacher conferences, or send home to parents.
Alternating to a different student is easy. Use the drop down box to select a new student and then click on the update button.
Let’s go back to the Individual Reports page for Joelle and take a look at Joelle’s Book Progress Report.
This is a book summary for the individual student Joelle. Notice she has read 37 of 85 books in the Popcorn Library e-Reader with total readings of 74.

In the Ooka Island Adventure, all books that are unlocked in the game are read two times and are intertwined with fun comprehension activities. Books can also be read during free play in the game.
Now let’s return to the Individual Students page and check out another students’ report. I will choose Nancy, and then click on the Reading Comprehension button.
This report shows how Nancy is doing in Reading Comprehension.

Each book in the game is located in the drop down box. I will choose book #2 called ‘The Balloon’ then click on the Update button to bring this specific information up.
You will notice that this learner read ‘The Balloon’ two times, and did very well in both comprehension activities called Pop and Drop and Seashells. Comprehension activity definitions are located at the bottom of the report as well.
This concludes Part 3 of the Ooka Lighthouse Video Tutorial. Look for our next video tutorial where we’ll discuss Progress Summary and Instructional Time in the Game reports.
Have a great day and read on!
